For many of you, I know this is your first time here. Your first time reading my blog post and tuning into my life. I am so very excited that you are here and have decided to join me on this journey. Starting a blog is something that I have wanted to do for so long, and I’ve actually started quite a few blogs in the past ( Don’t go try to find them all, haha). Now, the follow through with those blog, that’s another story. But, finally I am here! I am starting the blog that I’ve always wanted to create and chasing the dreams that I’ve had for so long. This journey and new beginning is both exciting and scary, but I’m prepared. Well, as prepared as I can be.

Lately, I’ve been consumed with emotions of joy and happiness and just plain feeling overwhelmed with all of these emotions. Have you ever had the feeling that things in life are finally starting to all come together? The feeling that your passion and purpose are finally aligned. Well, if you haven’t I pray that someday you experience this feeling. Towards the end of 2017, a switch flipped for me and it was as if the motivation that I had been looking for had finally arrived. I honestly, think I got tired to being sick and tired so I decided to do something about it. Out of my desire for change came to very important projects for me, this blog and my podcast. I set a date for myself of 12.31.17 and said you have to start on this date no matter what. I figured that this date was a great way to start a new beginning, as one year was ending I would be launching a new projects for a new year and a new beginning.  I knew my goals were lofty but not impossible. So I started, I booked my first professional photo shoot with a friend a few weeks prior to my launch date and began online tutoring to learn how to edit my podcasts.

December 31st came and I launched both my blog and podcast, silently without telling friends or family. I was nervous to share my dream with those closest to me because sharing this piece of me meant that those people would really get to know all sides of me. They would know my insecurities, my flaws, my weaknesses, my downfalls and all. I’ve always appeared to be an open book, but deep down I’m really closed off unless I really want to let you in. The social butterfly in me has a way of making you feel close enough without you ever truly knowing me. Which can be good and bad, sometimes I feel like a politician being asked a question and never really giving an answer but somehow satisfying the question asker anyway.

After a few weeks of secretly launching my blog and podcast a few friends found me on Instagram. Funny, how life has a way of letting the cat out the bag – even if you aren’t ready (I mean it’s not like I was using a public social media account or anything, haha) As friends and family slowly started to find me, follow me and support me – I figured it was time to let everyone in on what I’ve been up to. So here it is, FINALLY! I saying it loud and proud and ready to share this journey with the world.

So for those that are new to my blog and new to getting to know me. Here’s the rundown:

My name is Shaniqua

I am currently 26.

I live in St. Louis, MO

I have big ambitions to change the world. I want to inspire and educate women to live beyond their fears and chase after their dreams. We only live one life and I believe we all deserve to live out our passions and make our dreams come true. I also want to empower women to love themselves flaws and all, because love first begins with loving you.

I am a bit of a self -proclaimed foodie, my friends are always asking me for cooking advice or great restaurants to try out of town. I also went to Culinary School for a bit, but that’s a story for another time.

I truly have a passion for fashion. Although, I have to admit I find myself in a constant battle between my brain and my heart. The struggle between buying everything I want and being a responsible adult.

I am an avid traveler and love exploring new places. I lived in Madrid, Spain for a few months and I’m always up for chatting about my time abroad.

If you are interested my podcast is called The Boujee and Black Podcast and can be found on Soundcloud and I am on Instagram @theboujeeandblkpod

& last but not least I LOVE BEYONCE #beyhive

That’s all for now. I hope you all enjoyed this blog post & getting to know me a bit more. Leave a comment below to let me know you were here.

Until next time.

  1. Good for you, Shaniqua, for not giving up on what you’re passionate about. I remember when I started I didn’t tell my family about it for a very long time. Now, I won’t let them forget, lol. It sounds like you’ve got a beautiful mission and journey ahead. Have a blast! I love the outfit, btw 🙂
